Don't Let Visitors Stumble Around Your Website!

When building the perfect website, there is a seemingly endless list of things that need to be considered in order for success to be the final result. Layout, content, optimization, reputation, and so much more goes into creating an attractive internet presence that can attract many visitors; yet, sometimes doing all of the right things does not get the desired result of increasing page ranking with the search engines. Good incoming traffic may be happening – without the desired result of good ranking.

So, what is the problem? Determining what is wrong may actually have a simple solution that is based on questioning whether or not the website that seems so perfect in every other way is actually serving visitors and providing what they want and seek. If it is not, users may come but the stay will be a short one.

Keep Realistic Goals in Sight

Every website has goals, desires, aspirations that usually include being seen by as many viewers as possible as well as having a good amount of conversions or sales. While those are two very important purposes for any internet business, to achieve such objectives requires that the main desire to provide value by means of a good user experience must first be realized.

Not having success in reaching that first main objective can result in visitors coming to an internet location but being unable to find what they want or even worse, have difficulty using the website which can lead to high click off rates. First impressions are important; however, preventing frustration and providing satisfaction is the next step of the process. For this reason, although SEO is a priority, it should not cause the website to lose focus of that main intention to positively impact and serve the customer.

Appeal to Users Not Just Browsers

When planning a good optimization and internet marketing plan, there are certain things that every a website must do to boost ranking in the search engine results pages that could include using standard SEO tactics like keywords and optimized layouts as well as a thorough use of social media. Clicking on a page that takes a visitor to the exact information that is desired must be achieved; otherwise, all optimization effort is for naught.

There has to be an effective balance between SEO for the search engine spiders and user-friendly functioning in order to have a final result of a website that not only gains a good page ranking but also becomes a visitor favorite. One just will not work without the other.

Building the Best Website for Visitors

It should go without saying that being sure a website includes well-written quality content is of main importance in keeping visitors coming back - but it is not the only consideration. The other elements of any good internet spot that can influence readers and attract unique users to come back are: design and color scheme that balances between strikingly attractive and garish or offensive; proper use of white space to prevent overcrowding; navigation that gets visitors to correct locations in 2 clicks or less; and links that reach the desired page. A website should load quickly to avoid user frustration and above all, it should simplify whatever steps a visitor must take in order to reach all the important parts and be directed to a call-to-action that will lead to an email sign-up, checkout, or some other final action that is the goal of the website.

There are many parts of a great website that must work together in order to achieve various objectives without having visitors stumble around. The crucial thing for developers and designers to realize is that it is not wise to concentrate on one side of the equation and not the other. Optimization is extremely important only if the website is useable and functional to the point that once visitors are attracted, they will remain and return time and time again!
